Roya Boustany is a Lafayette native who loves volunteering in her spare time. As a Felony Assistant District Attorney for the 15th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Mrs. Boustany has a passion for helping those in need. Her work with the District Attorney’s Office has been a lifelong dream, having gone to law school specifically with the goal of being a prosecutor and advocating for victims of crimes while taking into account that justice takes many forms and sometimes people need not just second chances, but they also need help navigating life situations beyond their control. After graduating from Lafayette High School in 2004 and University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2008, Mrs. Boustany attended law school at Southern University Law Center. During her tenure at SULC, she served as a student attorney for the Juvenile Law Clinic. As a student attorney, she represented juveniles who were categorized as delinquents and made it her personal mission to ensure her clients would not become just another number in the criminal justice system.
Upon graduating in 2012, she moved back to Lafayette to begin her career in the criminal law arena. She first worked as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Clayton Davis in Lake Charles, Louisiana, then as an Indigent Defender in the 16th Judicial District, and finally as an Assistant District Attorney beginning in 2014. Since 2012, Mrs. Boustany has been involved in many civic and non-profit organizations. She is very involved with the Sudden Impact program with Louisiana State Police. She is currently a member of the Junior League of Lafayette as the Executive Vice President- Elect. In 2014 she was named Junior League of Lafayette’s Provisional of the Year, and in 2017 she was awarded the prestigious Presidential Award for her efforts recruiting new members for Junior League and inducting the largest provisional class in the organizations history with 70 new members. She is as an active member of the Lafayette Young Lawyers Board serving as Secretary and Lafayette Bar Association Board of Directors serving as the Continuing Legal Education Co-Chair. In 2015, she was recognized by the Lafayette Commission on the Needs of Women as a Woman of Excellence Recipient. In 2016, she was named as a Louisiana Bar Foundation fellow. In 2018, she was named a Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scouts of Louisiana Pines to the Gulf. In 2019, she was named a Top 20 Under 40 recipient. She is also very proud to be a part of Leadership Lafayette Class XXXII, the self proclaimed “La Meilleure Classe.” She is married to attorney Alfred F. Boustany, III and together they have one son, Alfred “Ace” F. Boustany, IV, one daughter Alexandra Boustany, and a caboose baby coming in September!
