Topic: Cybersecurity Threats and Tips with the RADER Cybersecurity Team

Cyber-attacks are becoming increasingly more advanced and harder to identify until it is too late, and your data is compromised. The RADER Cybersecurity Team will dive into the most recent cyber-attacks, including those centered around COVID-19, and what to look out for to stay secure. Learn how to protect yourself and your business from cyber-attacks in this month’s Lunch and Learn on Wednesday, May 27th.

Lunch will be provided to registered members -- you’ll just have to pick it up! We've partnered with Rock & Bowl in Downtown Lafayette, Fat Pat's in Carencro, and Geaux Fresh Convenience Market in Youngsville to provide pick-up lunches in advance of the "learn" portion of this virtual event.

How it works:

- Complete your registration for the event by clicking on Tickets
- While registering, select the restaurant and menu item you would like - we've chosen three restaurants across Lafayette Parish so that one will be close to you!
- Pick up lunch between 11-11:30am from one of the 3 partner restaurants
- Head back home and log into the Microsoft Teams meeting for 12-1:15pm

Provided lunches for members is capped at 50 so get on the list ASAP! Also, in order to ensure that all required food orders have been collected well ahead of the luncheon, registration will close at 11am Tuesday, 5/26. Registrants after this time will still be able to attend, but we can’t promise lunch will be available.

Non-members may still join in on the call. The Zoom link will be posted on the general page about an hour before the call begins.

Presenters from the RADER Cybersecurity Team:

Tim Fournet, Chief Information Security Officer, has been with RADER for fourteen years and has witnessed the evolution of computer problems people experience. The early days involved buying, maintaining and fixing hardware for small businesses; today, RADER typically manages entire computer and telephone systems to prevent problems for businesses ranging in size from 10 to 1000 employees. As technology has advanced quickly over the past decade, Tim has seen the benefits of utilizing cloud computing become countered with the risks of bad guys having access to all of your data.

Tyler Robertson, Cybersecurity Analyst, was born and raised in Lafayette, LA. His professional life began with serving five years in the Marine Corps, where he worked as an Intelligence Analyst and Reporter both domestically and abroad. During that time, he witnessed a growing need for cybersecurity professionals to combat an ever-growing threat targeting anyone and anything connected to the internet. At the end of his contract, he enrolled at Augusta University to complete a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a certificate in Cyber Security. He has worked as a
software developer for a nuclear plant in South Carolina and as a cybersecurity analyst for RADER here in Louisiana, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Cybersecurity online at Georgia Tech. During his time in the Corps, Tyler married his wife, also a Lafayette native, and they have since had three beautiful daughters. They were eager to raise their family in their hometown, so Tyler was excited for the opportunity to move back, join RADER, and establish the cybersecurity response team. He shares that “the chance to provide solutions and protection in today’s security climate, especially for local businesses and municipalities, is as exciting as it is rewarding.”
